Bonjour! We are Pierre and Janelle – NZ representatives for TSL France. We live in Wanaka – a beautiful small town on the lake and close to fabulous NZ ski resorts. We debuted our products in 2017 in our local area and we are expanding them throughout NZ – on the slopes or wherever there’s snow! 2023 is even better – new models and ever expanding technology/
So what’s important to us both?
Freedom – We are free-spirits, never have quite “fitted the system” and truly want to define our lifestyle, rather than have others define it for us. All of our products also offer that feeling of freedom, ease and thrill.
Pleasure – Life it too short to do the mundane or put aside play and pleasure for a rainy day! We love food, wine, friends, family, travel, international contacts and indulging in things that we love. Our products give people the pleasure of discovery – of themselves and the outdoors.
Being different – Neither of us follows the crowd that well! We like to be spontaneous, be truly ourselves and we enjoy the French-Kiwi combination of language, culture and difference. Our products all have a quirky, innovative point of difference that makes for more fun!
Our motto is “Why zig when you can zag?”

We love being NZ distributors for TSL Outdoor – a perfect, synchronistic match – because TSL is in Annecy (France) – Pierre’s hometown and where he spent his youth discovering his love of the outdoors. It was in the French alps where he became a ski instructor and enjoyed climbing. Annecy is gorgeous and is much like Wanaka, New Zealand where we now live – with a lake and surrounded by mountains. Hey they are both clear, fresh-air alpine territories! Where else would we prefer to hang out?
We love TSL’s motto. Much like our zig-zag metaphor, we share the TSL value of “GO YOUR OWN WAY” which is not just a motto, but a way of life.
Going your own way means creating sports activities which take you out into nature using TSL’s high quality products. Who wants to be in the office 9-5pm each day? Not us!
TSL Outdoor is the world-leader in snowshoes, not just for hiking, but for alpine trekking, winter running and they also produce snowshoes for kids, of course! We are all about the whole family having fun together!
And the Yooner – well that too is a TSL invention – sure with a bit of history and modernised from the original yooners (then called “Le Paret”) which were made of wood and made by the father to help the kids get down from the Alps and to school on time! We’re excited that our French Tahitian friend Tuki Huck, who is based in Queenstown, has taken over the distributorship for the TSL Yooner.

Going your own way means producing products in France and committing to eco-design. TSL Outdoor has built the company from the ground up in the heart of the Aravis (Haute-Savoie, France) and they have always manufactured their snowshoes, sleds, poles and Yooners in France. We like too that from the preliminary product design stages, TSL is always looking to optimize their environmental performance by minimizing their impact on the environement. (material consumption, transport, use, recycling…).
Going your own way means gaining a reputation for constant innovation. The taste for innovation runs through the TSL team of developers, testers, professionals and passionate men and women who live for the mountains and seek excellence above all else. The TSL team are creators, not followers. (Hey well that’s how we also like to see ourselves – black sheep in a field of white ones!!!) TSL proudly stands out in it’s field – already filing more than 60 patents around the world and winning a number of awards.
